How to turn a book into an audiobook

Updated on 02/11/2026

Sometimes you can't read: on the commute, cooking, walking or resting your eyes. Libtro narration turns an EPUB book into an audio file, read by a synthetic voice in Portuguese, so you can listen to it in any audio player.

How to narrate a book

  1. Upload the book to My files. Narration works with EPUB; PDFs with text are prepared automatically.
  2. Open Actions → Narrate.
  3. Choose the voice and the audio format. You can listen to a short sample before you start.
  4. Confirm and follow it in the Queue. Whole books can take quite a while, because each sentence is synthesized.
  5. Download the audio file when it is ready.

Tips for better audio

  • Well-formatted books sound better. An EPUB with correct chapters and paragraphs produces natural pauses. Converted PDFs may bring headers and page numbers into the middle of the text.
  • Start with a short passage. If you want to test voices, narrate a short story or a short book first.
  • Speed: most audio players let you listen faster or slower without distorting the voice.

Limits

Narration uses a synthetic voice: it is clear and pleasant to listen to for hours, but it does not act out characters the way a human narrator does. Because it uses a lot of processing, narration is exclusive to account holders (free accounts).

Copyright

The audio is for personal use. Do not distribute narrations of protected works without permission. Works in the public domain can be used freely.
